I love him anyway, because deep down he is a good person that just wants to do what’s best for everyone, but sometimes he doesn’t have the best methods to bring it about. Agreed. Xavier is very much the intelligent book smart type, who in his head knows how wonderful and peaceful the world could be if everyone just followed his plan - and while he respects that people have free will, he also believes himself (most of the time) to be the one in the right. Thus, sometimes, he sees being manipulative not as manipulation but as a necessary evil. Because he really just wants what’s best for everyone. Does that mean he’s always right in his actions? No. And that’s what’s such fun with his character - he’s the good guy, but sometimes he makes you want to side with the bad guys :) For a minute there, I was reminded of Castiel from Supernatural season 6+. Crossover with potential…?
